Byron Donald's is in many ways a good man. He is not native to the State of Florida, having grown up in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Florida in late adolescents / early adulthood.
He has been endorsed by nearly every major political figure in the Republican party for Governor of Florida, due to a now lengthy history of high-profile commentary on broad, national issues, which made him the most widely known and respected figures on the national level who is eligible to run for this position. Does this in fact make him the best choice for the governorship of Florida?
The vast majority of the endorsements are by those who do not even live in the state.
He, like Governor DeSantis, has yet to acknowledge the fact that the high property taxes in Florida are merely a symptom of a core problem, and that if you are having to eliminate an entire, major category of expense just to keep people in their homes, something else is very wrong.
The endless marketing of Florida as a sanctuary for nearly unlimited numbers of other people does not reflect a well-rounded understanding of the Florida economy, its culture and its actual needs. Instead, it is a flirtation with unconditional inclusion in the name of "compassion", which is a form of cultural Marxism very similar to open borders. They have done this because they have used higher population numbers, the amount of housing and construction jobs, and the amount of state revenue as the metric by which they judge a state's economic health. It does not work, because "growth" does not equal strength.
Like Governor DeSantis, his use of this metric and the failure even now to acknowledge its awful consequences indicates a candidate who does not truly understand and appreciate the state he seeks to govern, and who is instead subject to the influences seeking to change it in the name of "progress". This means a continuation of the path that led to the high property taxes, which is not acceptable.
Despite his support for the DOGE efforts, which every sincere American supports, he has never questioned why the head of the Florida DOGE Blaise Ingoglia has not conducted an investigation of his own home county - Hernando County. These two realities alone make Mr. Donalds little different from the "establishment" republicans, all of whom can sound great on the broad, national issues in a television interview, but who do not know how to make Florida great again.

The Senate majority leader can be replaced at any time. There is no formal, designated time period for which the majority leader holds his position. John Thune has not acted on even the most basic things, such as the funding for the border security and ICE, and funding for the Department of Justice at large. He has not acted to pass the SAVE Act, either with or without the filibuster.
He is simply taking up space, and taking up valuable time - time that we cannot afford to lose or waste. The later the SAVE Act passes, the less of an opportunity there is for adequate law enforcement to ensure honest elections. John Thune knows this, yet he doesn't act. This is evil, laziness, cowardice and perhaps passive aggression rolled into one.
